Prevention & Wellbeing

Services

Prevention & Wellbeing services help families address underlying factors that put children at risk of harm or removal from their home. In cases of Children's Services intervention, our programs and services support children and their families while we advocate for reunification or kinship placements.

We use a combination of advocacy, direct support, cultural connection, and referrals to help families identify their needs, set goals, and access support necessary to sustain positive outcomes.

Advocacy

Advocacy regarding:

Intervention
Repatriation
Relative placements
Cultural needs and rights

Advocacy for children/families in court, meetings with child protection agencies, and other formal proceedings.

Direct Support

Support for parent, grandparent, & caregiver rights.

Financial assistance for immediate needs.

Education and guidance on parenting, relationships.

Support for relatives or caregivers without funding from Children's Services.

Connection to Neyaskweyahk community, culture, and language.

Access to Elder's/Knowledge Keepers, mentorship, ceremonies, and teachings.

Access to community supports and resources.

Education and guidance on language and cultural practices.

Referral to external services and agencies.
